It might be safe to say that Ukraine hits to Yandex data centers did not hit the heart of Russian BOTs but perhaps just the “EYES” of the BOTs, thereby ‘blinding’ them.
Yandex started out and always has been a search engine. Crawling the web to index content.
Once indexed, you know the contents of a post or page on any web network.
So, if the BOT NETWORK does not know a targeted post or content exists, how can it respond ? And that is a undeniable result no matter the cause.
There seems to be a pause in Ukraine’s targeting of these data centers and I can only guess western intel is gathering data as to the structure of the operation.
Obviously, the strikes of the first 3 of the 9 known Yandex data centers, has removed the service of some online banking / payment systems and by itself has created much discontent within the population.
So, no matter what anyone says, nobody knows for sure if the heart of the BOT operation was actually taken out for sure. But the results do not lie. It has effected their operation.
And as I write this, a new strike by Ukraine to Russia in what initially looked like a power infrastructure strike might have actually been a new data center. Perhaps they are both true. The data center and the station that powers it. Time will tell but it looks like the data center was a target.
Lots of new questions as to how much Yandex was a cover for Russian intel gathering or just processing operations. This could effect the intel they share with someone like Iran. All of this could be true and unlikely most of it is false.
My question is, with current sanctions, can Russia rebuild these servers or would they even do that in Russia, preferring to do so in Belarus or a controlled nation that is not under sanctions and could not be stuck by Ukraine ?
Enjoy the online ‘PEACE’ while it lasts.
In the western world, people who advertise based on activity, now realize they have been bamboozled by the traffic generated by ‘non-human’ content. And Elon Musk seems to have promoted this whole thing to save his Twitter and promote his own agenda online. Funny he lost so many likes/replies to his posts on his own platform. Not so many real people actually following him.
Some of this reminds me of just a latter version of an old method used by porn peddlers online who were getting traffic to their sites using malware as they were getting paid by the ‘impression’ or page hit displaying their add.
Now they have a marker as to what the real traffic might be and change their spending patterns. No wonder Musk is mad about the strikes saying “Ukraine has gone to far”. And Musk now has a lot to answer for with his cozy relationship with Putin and promoting Pro-Russian leaders and content in Europe. I can see the EU pinching him and his Spacex, Tesla and StarLink where he can not be trusted anymore and will promote their own versions of this entities. Musk may not be a sound investment going forward. We will see.
